Outfits can make or break a photo shoot. It is worth it to take some time and effort and pick right clothes and accessories.
What is the scenario? Time of the year? Is it a beach? Walk in the woods? Studio? Would you like more formal look or more relaxed fun image? What suits your family best?
Do not match but coordinate. All blue jeans and white T-shirts were great in the 90’s but we have moved on now and if you don’t want to look like a teenage boys band it might be a good idea to coordinate instead. What do I mean COORDINATE?
Example:
-daughter choose dress first white with some purple, blue and pink pattern/flowers.
-mum chooses similar tones dress
-son chooses different shade jeans and blue shirt
-dad chooses khaki trouses and different shade of blue shirt
Choosing few colors at different shades. Keeping harmony
Beach
For the beach my choice would be light blues, brown/khaki shorts. Washed out colours and classic clothing. You can bring things like sun hats, children- dungarees. Any colours that you see on the seascape – colour of sand, sky,water, tall grass-get inspired by nature!
Autumn
Rich golden colours – yellows, browns, burned reds, mustard. Think about leafs in the park in October. You can play with layers and textures. Wellington boots, knitted jumpers and gillets are perfect too.
Spring / Summer
Bright (but not too saturated) and beautiful is the way to go for in the summer time. Pretty pattern and pastels or solid colours – both works. Try to stick to one or the other at one session.
Solid neutrals always look good.
Choose classic pieces of clothing, so your photographs will never look dated.
