Safe Frame: secure client galleries for photographers
Clients screenshotting proofs, cropping watermarks or “just using them for social media” – most of us know that feeling.
Safe Frame is the gallery app I use to give clients a modern viewing experience while keeping much better control over my images and income.
As an affiliate, I can offer 15% off Safe Frame with my codes (details below), so you can try it in your own business on the plan that suits you.
In the age of AI, a watermark is no longer real protection – it’s a tiny speed bump.
Safe Frame uses app-only access, screenshot blocking and controlled downloads so your photo sales are actually protected, not just “decorated” with a logo
Why I wanted a different way to share galleries
For years, I used standard online galleries. They looked fine, but:
- screenshots were easy,
- watermarks could be cropped or removed with AI,
- downloads could get out of control.
Quietly, that can mean losing a noticeable chunk of income from each session.
I wanted something simple and good-looking for clients, but with clearer boundaries. That’s where Safe Frame came in.
What is Safe Frame?
Safe Frame is a mobile client gallery app created by photographers.
Clients view their photos inside the Safe Frame app, not in a browser, and you decide what they can or can’t do with the images.
How it works – in four steps
- You create a gallery in your Safe Frame dashboard on computer and send your client their unique code or link.
- Your client downloads the Safe Frame app, opens it and enters the code.
- They view their photos, mark favourites and send you their final selections.
- After payment, you deliver the finished images – via Safe Frame or your usual delivery method.
Key benefits for photographers
Image protection
- Screenshot blocking on Android devices.
- Screenshot attempt detection on iOS – the image is hidden when they try.
- No downloads until you enable them.
- Preview files are optimised for viewing, not for high-quality printing.
Clean client experience
- Clients use a simple, modern app instead of a long browser link.
- Clear layout for browsing and favouriting images.
- Straightforward flow for choosing included photos and ordering extras.
Business & organisation
- All galleries in one place, searchable by name, date or session type.
- Client selections appear automatically in your dashboard.
- Payment integrations (Stripe / PayPal) and automatic invoices.
- Plans that keep galleries online for months or years, depending on what you choose.
How Safe Frame fits into my workflow
Here’s what a typical session looks like for me with Safe Frame:
- I edit the session as usual and export the proof images.
- I upload them into a new Safe Frame gallery and set how many photos are included in the package, plus prices for additional images.
- I send my client a short message with their gallery code and a link to download the app.
- They open the app, view the gallery and tap the heart icon to mark favourites.
- Their selection appears in my Safe Frame dashboard so I can see exactly which images to retouch and deliver.
- After payment, I deliver the final images – either via Safe Frame or a separate download gallery, depending on the job.
You can adapt this flow for newborn, family, mini sessions, weddings, branding or commercial work.
(If you record a YouTube walkthrough of this workflow, embed it under this section.)

Why I recommend Safe Frame
I’m careful about what I recommend to other photographers. I’m a working photographer first, and I need tools that are reliable, simple and respectful of my time.
Safe Frame was created by two photographers who I have known personally for years, were seeing the same problem so many of us have: clients selecting fewer images while quietly keeping screenshots of the rest. Since switching my selection galleries to Safe Frame, I feel more relaxed about sharing work, and my clients get a gallery experience that feels modern and professional.
Safe Frame – quick FAQ
Will my clients find the app difficult to use?
Most clients find it very simple. They download the free Safe Frame app on their iPhone or Android phone, enter the code I send them, tap the heart icon on their favourites and submit the selection. I include a short step-by-step explanation in my email or message, and that’s usually all they need.
Can clients still “cheat” with another phone?
In theory, anyone can photograph a screen with a second device. Safe Frame makes casual theft much harder by blocking normal screenshots and downloads. In real life, that stops the majority of “quick, I’ll just grab it” behaviour, but let’s face it, photographing device by other device would give terrible quality results.
Is Safe Frame only for portrait or newborn photographers?
No. You can use it for any work where clients view and select images: families, portraits, weddings, branding, commercial and more.
Is there a free trial or different plans?
Safe Frame offers different plans depending on how many galleries you need and how long you want them online. Check their current pricing and on the Safe Frame website. Don’t forget to use my promo codes for discounts.
From one photographer to another
Before you send your next gallery – you know that little punch in the gut when you see your photo online, cropped, uncredited, never paid for. We pour hours, energy and heart into this work – it’s not “just a few files” we’re sending out into the world.
For me, Safe Frame is simply the moment I stopped crossing my fingers and hoping clients would “do the right thing”, and started sending galleries with proper boundaries in place. My images still feel loved and accessible to clients, but I’m not quietly giving half of my work away for free.
If you’re at that same point of frustration, consider this your gentle nudge to try a more secure system. And if you want to talk it through, message me – I’m always happy to chat photographer-to-photographer.
