Unfussy and simple — that’s how I believe every newborn photographer Portsmouth session should be. I come to you, bringing everything needed for a fully professional session, so you don’t have to travel anywhere or prepare anything elaborate. Just follow my simple preparation guide and leave the rest to me. There’s no need to deep clean or rearrange your home — we work with what you have, and it’s always enough.

Each newborn photographer Portsmouth session lasts around an hour, and we follow your baby’s lead completely. If they need feeding, changing, or just a long cuddle before they’ll settle, that’s absolutely fine — it’s all part of the process. My job is to make sure everyone in the room feels comfortable and unhurried, while I quietly take care of everything else. You just get to sit back and soak up those first tiny days, knowing your baby is in safe, gentle hands.

How It Works — Your Newborn Photography Session in Portsmouth

My promise to you: when booking your newborn photographer in Portsmouth, I ensure you are looked after from start to finish.

1. Your home, your comfort. The session takes place at your home — no travelling with a newborn, no unfamiliar surroundings. Especially brilliant if you have older children who are always more comfortable on their own turf.

2. No need to scrub the house. I only need a small area — your bed or sofa for family shots, and a little floor space in the living room or kitchen for me to work. That’s it.

3. Studio results, delivered to your door. I bring my full professional setup with me, so you get beautiful, polished images without setting foot outside.

4. One hour, relaxed and unhurried. We start with parents and siblings, then focus on baby. Feeds, cuddles, and nappy changes are all part of the flow — we follow baby’s lead.

5. You’ll be guided every step of the way. From how to prepare your home to what to wear — it’s all covered, and it’s all very simple. Please take a look at my GUIDE

6. One honest price, nothing hidden. Everything is included — no surprises when you reach the end.

7. Your gallery, within two weeks. You’ll receive beautifully edited, high-resolution digital images with full printing permission, delivered within 2 weeks of your session.

Ania made me feel very comfortable and confident in front of the camera.
Before booking I was worried Elsie might not cooperate! and I had conceded if I’d feel awkward and uncomfortable. I loved that she went through what I would like the photos to look like, and asked for my input.
So important to me Ania was amazing with Elsie!! It was relaxed and comfortable, warm and made for beautiful pictures.
There isn’t enough time to tell someone all the reasons why I would recommend you. Everything from booking to receiving the final pictures was seamless.

Newborn Photographer Portsmouth — Frequently Asked Questions

Where do newborn photography sessions take place?

All newborn sessions take place in the comfort of your own home. I travel to you across Portsmouth, Hampshire and West Sussex, bringing all the props, wraps, and equipment you need. No stressful journeys with a brand new baby — you simply relax in your own space. Contact me to check if I cover your area.

When is the best time to book a newborn photography session?

I recommend booking after your second scan, as popular time slots fill up quickly. The ideal time for the session is within the first two to three weeks of birth, when babies are naturally sleepy and curly. That said, please get in touch if you’ve missed that window — I can often accommodate older babies up to six weeks.

How long does a newborn photography session last?

Newborn sessions last up to 1h. I found it to be a sweet spot – before everyone gets tired and at the same time, we get great number of shots. This is intentionally unhurried — your baby leads the pace, with plenty of time for feeding, changing, and settling. There is no rush. The extra time ensures your baby is comfortable and calm throughout, which is what makes the photographs so beautiful and natural.

More Questions About Your Newborn Photographer Portsmouth Session

Are newborn sessions safe?

Absolutely. Your baby’s safety and comfort are my absolute priority above everything else. I have over thirteen years of experience photographing newborns, I am fully insured, professionally trained in newborn posing, and I have completed a first aid course. I only use baby-led, natural posing.

Can parents and siblings be included in the newborn session?

Yes — and I actively encourage it. I always include parents and siblings in the session. I photograph family and sibling shots first, so little ones can head off with the other parent once their part is done, leaving a calm space for the newborn portraits.

Do I need to provide any outfits, props or accessories for my baby?

Not at all — I bring everything your baby needs, from wraps and bonnets to props and accessories. All I ask is that you and any older children are dressed and ready for your family shots. Everything you need to know is in my preparation guide.

What if my baby cries a lot during the session?

That’s perfectly normal! We simply pause, feed, cuddle and resettle as needed. There’s no rush — the session follows your baby’s lead.

How far do you travel for newborn home sessions?

I travel across Hampshire and West Sussex for newborn home sessions, including Portsmouth, Southampton, Fareham, Gosport, Waterlooville, Chichester, Emsworth, Havant, Petersfield, Winchester, Littlehampton, Bognor Regis, and surrounding areas.

About Your Newborn Photographer

I see a mixture of studio and at-home work on your website. Which do you do now?

Well spotted! I used to have a home studio, but I now travel exclusively to clients’ homes. I noticed families love staying in their own surroundings, especially when older siblings are involved. My portfolio is gradually being updated to reflect this.

What led you to newborn photography?

Having my own son in 2013 inspired a deep appreciation for this genre. I love meeting families at this precious time and helping them capture memories they’ll treasure forever.

Do you offer maternity sessions?

Yes! I offer maternity sessions as a standalone service. It’s a beautiful way to document your pregnancy journey before your little one arrives. Take a look at my maternity page

I’ve noticed babies are wrapped in some of your photos — can you tell me more about that?

Wrapping (or swaddling) is a gentle technique that helps newborns feel secure and settled during the session. I use only soft, breathable fabrics and follow safe posing guidelines at all times. It’s completely optional — some babies prefer to be unwrapped, and I always follow the baby’s cues.
