Newborn Photography at Home in Littlehampton, West Sussex
There is something about a house that has just welcomed a new baby. The soft blankets folded on the sofa. The pram parked by the door. The quiet kind of tiredness on parents’ faces that looks nothing like exhaustion and everything like love. When I arrived at this lovely family’s home in Littlehampton, West Sussex, all of that was there — and I knew straightaway we were going to have a beautiful session.
Their little boy was just days old. Brand new to the world, deeply unimpressed by the camera, and absolutely perfect.
Why I Photograph Newborns at Home
This is something I get asked about a lot: why at home rather than in a studio?
The honest answer is that home is where the magic actually is.
Your baby knows your smell, your voice, your warmth. Being in their own space — in the same light that will fall across them every morning, on the same sofa where you’ll do the three o’clock feeds — means they settle more easily, and you do too. There is no packing a bag, no wrestling a newborn into a car seat, no sitting in an unfamiliar room trying to look relaxed in front of someone else’s props.
We work with what your home already gives us: the textures, the little details that are uniquely yours. The result is images that feel like your life, not a set.
For this family in Littlehampton, we used the soft natural light coming through their bedroom window — ideal for those close, tender portraits — and moved to the living room for some of the family shots together. It all flowed beautifully.
The Session
We started with the baby on his own, which is always my favourite part. There is something about a sleeping newborn that just stops time.
He was wrapped in soft neutral knits, which I love for boys — nothing too fussy, nothing that will date. We got those beautiful curled-up poses, the tiny feet. His parents watched from the doorway, half whispering to each other, half just staring at him the way new parents do.
Then we brought Mum and Dad in.
These are the shots I know families go back to again and again. Not the perfectly posed ones (though we got those too) — but the in-between moments. Dad looking down at his son with that slightly disbelieving expression. Mum with her eyes closed, just holding him. The three of them, silhouetted against the light, the whole little family of them.
We finished with some beautiful close-ups — hands, feet, profile — the details that grow so fast you almost forget they were ever that small.
Booking a Newborn Session in West Sussex
If you’re expecting a baby in Littlehampton, Worthing, Chichester, Bognor Regis, or anywhere across West Sussex and Hampshire, I’d love to hear from you.
Newborn sessions are best booked during pregnancy — ideally around 28–36 weeks — so we can pencil in a flexible window around your due date. I always leave a few days either side because, as we all know, babies have their own ideas about timing.
Sessions take place at your home, at a time that suits you. I bring everything we need. You can relax and put your feet up.

5 STARS – Newborn photographer at home (Client’s review)
We had such a lovely experience with Ania for our newborn photoshoot. She came to our home, which made everything so much easier and more comfortable for us as new parents.
The photos turned out absolutely stunning and exceeded our expectations. We are so grateful to have these precious memories of our little one.
Thank you, Ania! We would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a newborn photographer.
A Note on Baby Acne
One thing this family mentioned beforehand was that their little boy had some baby acne, and they were worried it would affect the photos.
I completely understand this concern — it comes up more than you might think, and it can feel like a big deal when you’re in the middle of it. But here’s the truth: baby acne is incredibly common in the first few weeks of life, it is completely harmless, and it edits out beautifully.
I always retouch skin in post-processing. My goal is never to make your baby look like someone else — just to give you the clearest, loveliest version of who they already are.

This little one had already been checked by his GP, so Mum and Dad had peace of mind on that front. But even so, the camera can make it look more prominent than it is in real life — which is exactly why retouching is part of every session.

As you can see, the difference is subtle but meaningful. The warmth and character of his face is completely preserved — the acne simply isn’t the thing you notice anymore.
If your baby has acne, marks, or any skin concerns ahead of your session, please don’t let it put you off booking. It genuinely isn’t something to worry about.
FAQ: Your Newborn Session Questions Answered
My baby has acne — will it show in the photos? Baby acne is so common in those first few weeks, and it’s honestly nothing to worry about. I retouch skin carefully in post-processing, so any acne, redness, or marks will be edited away. You’ll still see your baby — just without the bits you’d rather forget. If you’re concerned, do mention it when we chat beforehand, and I can reassure you further.
How old should my baby be for a newborn session? The ideal window is 2 days to 3 weeks old. At this age babies sleep deeply, curl naturally into those lovely poses, and are still wonderfully compact. That said, if your baby is a little older, don’t panic — get in touch and we’ll have a chat about what’s possible. Yje oldest newborn baby I photographed was 11 weeks old!
Where does the session take place? At your home. I come to you, which means no stressful journeys with a days-old baby, no unfamiliar environment, and a much more relaxed session overall. I will bring my portable studio light, which gives the images a warmth that’s unique to your family.
How long does the session take? Up to 1h – 1h30. It depends if baby needs feeding, number of older siblings. Session is designed to capture parents, siblings with newborn and baby individually as well. Newborns set the pace — we follow their lead, with plenty of time for feeds, cuddles, and resettling between setups.
What should we wear? I always say: simple, soft, and neutral. Nothing too busy or branded. Creams, whites, soft greys, muted tones — they keep the focus on your faces and your baby, which is exactly where it should be. I’ll send full guidance once you’re booked. When will we receive our photos? Your gallery will be ready within 2 weeks. You’ll receive a private online gallery to download and share.
